The Part You Touch Every Single Time

A focuser is the one component you operate on every target, all night, in the dark, usually with gloves on. It is also the component most often left as whatever the telescope shipped with — which is a shame, because focus is where solar and planetary detail lives or dies.

These are Lunt's own focusers for their solar telescopes, from the compact 1.25-inch mini helical up to the two-inch Starlight Feather Touch draw tubes, plus the backing plate and focuser assembly for the LS152THa.

If you are not certain which fits your tube, ask us before you order. Focuser fitment is specific and getting it wrong is an avoidable return.

Fitment checked first

Tell us your telescope and we will confirm which focuser mounts to it before the order goes out.

2

Made by the telescope builder

These are Lunt's own focusers, designed around Lunt tubes rather than adapted to them.

3

Coarse and fine, in one

The 10:1 dual-speed and Feather Touch options give you a fine-focus knob, which is what solar detail actually needs.

Free shipping on all of it

Focuser questions, answered

What we get asked before people order one.

Will this focuser fit my telescope?

Lunt focusers are designed for Lunt tubes and the fitment is specific to the model and the backing plate on your scope. Send us your telescope model and we will confirm which one mounts to it before you order.

What is 10:1 dual-speed and do I need it?

A 10:1 focuser adds a second, geared knob that moves the draw tube a tenth as fast as the coarse knob. On the Sun and on planets, where the useful focus range is a fraction of a millimetre, it is the difference between finding focus and hunting past it repeatedly.

Helical or rack-and-pinion?

A helical focuser is compact, light and has no protruding knobs, which suits a small travel scope. A rack-and-pinion gives you more travel and a smoother feel under the weight of a diagonal and eyepiece.

Why do these say Draft on some days?

Two of these are held while we confirm current specification and pricing directly with Lunt. Call us and we can quote and order either one for you in the meantime.

Where to go next

A focuser is one part of the optical train. These pages cover the rest.
