This polarizing filter unit from Lunt pairs with a Lunt White Light Solar Wedge to give you control over image brightness. The wedge and its ND3 filter already bring sunlight down to a safe level, and the polarizer then lets you trim the remaining glare so the disk sits at a comfortable level for your eyes.
Installation is simple. Screw the filter onto the barrel of your eyepiece, drop the eyepiece into the wedge, then rotate the eyepiece or the top filter element to vary transmission. Choose the size that matches your wedge barrel, PF1.25 for the 1.25 inch wedge and PF-2 for the 2 inch wedge.
This filter is a brightness control, not a solar filter. It must never be used on its own to look at the Sun. Always observe through properly filtered equipment such as a Herschel wedge on a refractor or a dedicated hydrogen alpha telescope, and add the polarizer only inside that safe optical train.
