The Largest Modular Solar Telescope Lunt Builds

The Lunt 130mm Solar Ready Kit is the largest modular solar telescope in the Lunt catalogue. It uses a 130mm FLP51 ED triplet objective at 910mm f/7 with ion assisted broadband antireflection coatings, and an internal pressure tuned etalon rated at a verified 0.45 angstrom bandpass. Lunt lists theoretical maximum magnification at 225x.

Both trims share the same core hardware: a B1800 blocking filter with 18mm of clear aperture, a 2 inch CNC machined dual speed rack and pinion focuser with 10:1 reduction and ZWO EAF compatibility, mounting rings with a solar handle and red dot sun finder, a 12 inch Vixen dovetail, and an aluminium hard case with fitted foam.

Eyepiece coverage is identical too, with a 7.2 to 21.5mm zoom alongside the LSEPSET five piece flat field set in 8mm, 12mm, 16mm, 19mm and 27mm. The Flagship trim adds the LFPT internal double stack module, which puts a 0.4 angstrom etalon in series with the internal unit for a combined bandpass under 0.28 angstroms.

Lunt LS130MT 130mm universal solar and astronomical telescope in day and night convertible configuration

Key Features

  • Flagship Aperture - 130mm of clear aperture through an FLP51 ED triplet is the largest modular platform Lunt offers.
  • LFPT Double Stack - the Flagship trim adds an internal 0.4 angstrom etalon in series, taking combined bandpass under 0.28 angstroms.
  • Customer Installed Module - the LFPT double stack fits without a factory return, so an upgrade does not mean shipping the telescope back.
  • Complete Eyepiece Set - both trims include the zoom plus the LSEPSET five piece flat field set covering roughly 34x to 114x.
  • Imaging Ready - the B1800 gives 18mm of clear aperture for full frame sensors and the focuser takes a ZWO EAF motor.
  • Night Time Triplet - with the solar module removed the tube is a 130mm f/7 FLP51 ED triplet refractor at 910mm focal length.
