Observatory Class Aperture You Can Still Carry

The Lunt 100mm Solar Ready Kit brings observatory class aperture to a tube you can still carry. Lunt lists the Standard trim as a 102mm f/6.5 doublet at 663mm focal length, while the Enhanced and Premium Plus trims are listed as the LS100MT with an FPL53 ED triplet at f/7. All three use an internal pressure tuned etalon.

The etalon is rated at a verified 0.45 angstrom bandpass with Doppler True barometric tuning, so you can shift the passband across the whole aperture while observing. Shared hardware across the range includes mounting rings with a solar handle and red dot sun finder, an 8 inch Vixen dovetail, a 2 inch 10:1 focuser and a hard case.

Standard pairs a B1200 blocking filter with a single 19mm flat field eyepiece. Enhanced moves to the B1800 with 18mm of clear aperture and adds 8mm, 12mm, 16mm and 19mm eyepieces. Premium Plus keeps the B1800 and includes the SFPT internal double stack module for a combined system bandpass below 0.28 angstroms, plus a zoom eyepiece.

Lunt LS100MT 100mm hydrogen-alpha solar telescope with solar handle, red dot finder and 8 inch dovetail

Key Features

  • Aperture Advantage - 100mm collects over six times the light of a 40mm instrument, so structure reads as detail rather than texture.
  • Premium Triplet Glass - the LS100MT trims use an FPL53 ED triplet with ion assisted broadband AR coatings for colour correction day and night.
  • Internal Double Stack - the SFPT module in Premium Plus runs two independently pressure tuned etalons in series, below 0.28 angstroms combined.
  • Full Frame Imaging - the B1800 blocking filter on Enhanced and Premium Plus illuminates full frame sensors without vignetting.
  • Balanced Mounting - an 8 inch Vixen dovetail gives the rail length this aperture needs on equatorial and alt-az mounts.
  • Night Time Refractor - lift out the H-alpha module and the same tube becomes a 100mm f/7 refractor for lunar, planetary and deep sky use.
