Night Sky Refractors Ready For Solar Upgrades

The Lunt MT series gives you a night sky refractor first and a solar platform second. Each optical tube assembly is an f/7 apochromatic refractor built on precision aligned ED glass, and each one ships ready to accept a Lunt hydrogen alpha module later. You choose the aperture, then decide when to add the solar side.

Four apertures cover the range. The 70mm works at 420mm focal length, the 80mm at 560mm, the 100mm at 714mm and the 130mm at 910mm, so every tube holds the same f/7 focal ratio. Smaller tubes stay travel friendly at around five and a half pounds, while the 130mm delivers the most resolution for deep sky imaging.

A dual speed 10:1 rack and pinion focuser handles fine adjustment, and a ring or clamshell assembly with a Vixen style dovetail lets you mount on standard saddles. When you want the Sun, swap the focuser for a Lunt hydrogen alpha module and blocking filter and the same tube reaches 0.7 Angstrom bandwidth or tighter. A fitted hard case protects the tube in transit.

Lunt 70mm MT refractor optical tube assembly with dual speed rack and pinion focuser and clamshell ring

Key Features

  • F/7 Across The Range - keeps the same focal ratio at 70mm, 80mm, 100mm and 130mm, so accessories and exposure habits carry over between tubes.
  • ED Apochromatic Optics - uses precision aligned extra low dispersion glass, with FPL51 in the 70mm and FPL53 doublet and triplet designs in the larger apertures.
  • Day Or Night Conversion - accepts a Lunt hydrogen alpha module, calcium K module or white light wedge in place of the focuser, then returns to night use in minutes.
  • Dual Speed Focuser - provides a 10:1 rack and pinion feed for repeatable focus on planets, star fields and solar detail.
  • Mounting Hardware Included - ships with a ring or clamshell assembly and dovetail, so the tube drops onto a standard Vixen style saddle.
  • Hard Case Storage - travels in a hard case with custom cut foam that leaves room for modules and accessories.
