Lunt Clamshell Mounting Ring
A Heavy Duty Ring For LS60 And LS80 Tubes
This clamshell mounting ring from Lunt wraps the tube of an LS60THa or LS80THa solar telescope and gives you a solid, adjustable grip for mounting. The black anodized body is built heavy duty, so it holds the scope securely while you slide it fore and aft to balance the load on your mount.
A slot on the top of the ring accepts the Tele Vue Sol-Searcher Sun Finder, so you can add a sighting aid without drilling the tube. The base is tapped 1/4-20, which lets you attach the ring to a dovetail bar, a photo head or any fitting that uses the same thread.
Most LS60THa and LS80THa packages already include this clamshell, so treat it as a spare, a second ring for a two point mounting setup or a replacement. It changes only how the telescope is held. Keep the hydrogen alpha filtration in place, and never aim an unfiltered instrument at the Sun.
